Great location, an easy walk from the train station, even with luggage. The hotel is very clean, but beware you do have to remove your shoes at the entrance, leave them in a locker, and walk to your room in your socks. Our room was small, but workable and very clean. The bathroom and shower were very small, but the shower pressure was fantastic, as we found in most Japan hotels. They know how to do showers right! The bed was comfortable. We walked all over Matsumoto from the hotel. It was about a 20-minute walk to Matsumoto Castle, good exercise after a long train ride. We were able to walk everywhere we went, including the miso factory for a tour and to a fantastic Neapolitan pizza restaurant for dinner, Pizza Verde Matsumoto. Onyado Nono is a great option for our one-night stay in Matsumoto. Easy walk back to the train station early the next morning.

The hotel was a modern facility with lots of international and Japanese tourists. Clean and efficient. We were in transit to the national park in Kamikochi, and the hotel was a good "no worries" spot on the journey. We had to deposit our shoes in lockers on arrival - my first and only experience of that on this trip. Breakfast was good although the breakfast room was somewhat crowded with some guests eating alone on a "bar"-type counter on the side. The food quality was good. The hotel is well located for night-time access to the restaurant and bar district. We had a great meal there. The next morning, we quickly walked to the Castle which was not far. It's also an easy walk to Matsumoto JR station for our trip to Kamikochi.

LOVES the hot springs! It was so wonderful after a busy day of sightseeing and coming back to relax and reflect in the spa. So many very special touches in this hotel including the noodles served from 9:30 pm to almost 11pm, the popsicles available outside the spa, the laundry facilities (free washing and 100 yen for drying) and in the morning free sour milk (not for me but whoever likes that). The location is exceptional. Walk to everything and 5 minutes walk to train and bus station. Loved the shoe lockers near reception, the pyjama outfit to wear around the hotel including the socks and no shoes policy. It was a very good thing.Would most definitely stay here again.

We loved this place, due to its design, comfort and little extras that made the stay so enjoyable. Clean, comfortable room, very cozy. Completely dark and quiet at night. Nice view over Matsumoto and the mountains. Beautiful outdoor and indoor Onsen and small sauna. Couple of free things that sweetened the experience: very tasty soup in the evening, popsicles next to the Onsen, welcome drink. Good location, close to restaurants, could walk to the castle. The room is rather small, but normal for Japan and well designed to feel spacious.

Myriam

The Japanese breakfast buffet was simply exceptional. Many traditional dishes were served, & good quality ingredients were used. If we return to Matsumoto again, we may book this hotel again only to savour its great & good Japanese breakfast spread. The other feature that we like is the onsen - balanced lighting, quality shampoo & bathing wash, & most importantly, a clean place to shower & onsen in peace.
